This is a non-invasive study considered a variant type of radiological or imaging techniques where functional scanned images of biological processes are on-going within our bodies. It offers an opportunity for the early diagnosis of lung, breast, and colon cancer, lymphomas, melanomas, and head and neck tumors.
At the heart level, it is very useful for determining coronary artery problems in patients thought to require revascularization and even heart transplants. It is also used for the diagnosis of neurological conditions. PET can distinguish between Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementias. It is also useful in Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy.
