All the procedures related to cardiology, considered currently as invasive (using a catheter that is introduced through a vein or artery in the arm or groin), are carried out.

These procedures allow:

  • To measure blood from within the heart
  • Inject contrast medium for viewing blood vessels in the brain, neck and heart
  • Make direct diagnoses
  • Carry out coronary angioplasties, that is to say, open the artery with a balloon and place a stainless steel net to allow the passage of blood again throughout the vessel
  • Place permanent pacemakers
  • Situate filters in the vena cava to avoid leg clots from reaching lungs and causing damage

Through these tests, blood vessels can be explored throughout the body (brain, neck, abdomen, peripheral circulation, etc.) and used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
